Hoku Scientific loses $1.74M in first quarter

Hoku Scientific Inc., a Kapolei-based technology company, lost $1.74 million, or 11 cents a share, in the fiscal fourth quarter ended March 31, compared with a profit of $508,000, or 3 cents a share, in the year-ago period.

The company said revenue fell to $1.1 million from with $1.3 million in the same period a year ago.

Hoku lost 2.4 million on $5.4 million in revenues during the full fiscal year.

Hoku said it expects revenue for the current first quarter will be in the range of $1 to $1.3 million and $7 to $10 million for the full year.

Shares of Hoku fell 10 cents, or 2 percent, to close at $5.04 a share on the Nasdaq National Market.
