A 13-year-old girl was transported to The Queen's Medical Center in serious condition this morning after she was struck in the back of the head by a vehicle's side-view mirror while crossing the street at the intersection of North School Street and Likelike Highway.

The impact caused the girl to fall face-first onto the pavement resulting in injuries that included several broken teeth, said Bryan Cheplic, spokesman for the city Emergency Services Department.

The incident was reported about 7:40 a.m.
