Man arrested in machete assault incident

A 31-year-old man was arrested in downtown Honolulu last night after he allegedly attacked a 21-year-old woman with a machete about 9 p.m.

Police were told the two had been arguing before the machete incident.

Uniformed officers responded to a call for assistance, located the suspect and arrested him on suspicion of second-degree assault.

Police said the woman received only minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene.

Woman reports sexual assault in Waikiki area

Police opened a second-degree sexual assault investigation yesterday after a 26-year-old woman reported being assaulted by a 50-year-old man, whom she described as an acquaintance.

The woman told police the incident occurred about 4 a.m. Sunday in the Waikiki area.

Woman arrested in connection to stolen car case

Police arrested a 23-year-old woman yesterday in connection with a stolen car case.

Police received a report of stolen car being driven through Kalihi about 6:05 Sunday evening. When police went to the area, they found the car that some witnesses told them that the woman had been driving. The woman initially told police that she had seen someone else driving the stolen car.

But after further investigation, police arrested her on suspicion of unauthorized control of a propelled vehicle as well as an outstanding warrant.

Mo'ili'ili man arrested in tie to reported assaults, threat

A 21-year-old Mo'ili'ili man was arrested yesterday after his 20-year-old girlfriend told police the man beat her on Friday and Saturday and threatened her life in February.

Police said the woman was in the process of ending her relationship with the man and had asked that officers accompany her on Sunday while she went to his home to return some items.

Police said that while the woman was returning items, she told the officers the man had assaulted her on Friday and Saturday.

When police asked if there had been other problems, she told the officers that the man had threatened her with a kitchen knife sometime between Feb. 14 and 28 and said, "I could kill you."

The man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and two counts of third-degree assault.
