Campus to stay closed today

Advertiser Staff

Kahuku High & Intermediate School will remain closed to students and staff today because of a continuing pesticide odor.

The odor first caused problems on Thursday, sickening 13 students and two teachers after a nearby turf farmer sprayed chemicals on some grass. Symptoms included nausea, throat irritation and vomiting.

The school was closed Friday and no students were on campus yesterday because of a previously scheduled teacher development day. Campus activities for today have been canceled but off-campus functions such as an AP statistics exam are being held. For more information, visit www.kahuku.org.
