New school dedicated today

Advertiser Staff

Keone'ula Elementary School, Hawai'i's newest public school, will be dedicated at 9 a.m today.

Hailed as a showpiece of modern learning, the school is located on 12 acres at Kaileolea Drive that was dedicated by Haseko (Hawaii) Inc., developers of the nearby Ocean Pointe housing community.

The more than 500 students of the K-6 Keone'ula started the school year last fall sharing the 'Ewa Beach Elementary School campus until they moved into their own facility in January.

Keone'ula, "the red sand" in Hawaiian, includes a two-story, 21-classroom building; two one-story, 10-classroom buildings; an administration building; and a library.
