Rayanne Alvarado hit a 12-foot jumper with 16 seconds left last night to lift Word of Life to a 35-34 victory over University High in the Interscholastic League of Honolulu girls Division II tournament at Hawai'i Baptist.

The Junior 'Bows had taken a 34-33 lead on a three-point play by Sarah Cockett with just under 30 seconds remaining in the game.

Following Alvarado's shot, University's Brittany Copp missed a 10-footer and the Firebrands secured the rebound as time expired.

Jasmine Saquilon led Word of Life with 10 points.

The Firebrands will face Hawai'i Baptist today at 6:30 p.m. at Hawai'i Baptist.

Sarah Cockett scored 11 points to lead University, which ends its season at 5-9.
