Show on Japanese internees opens on Kaua'i Friday

The Japanese Cultural Center of Hawai'i's exhibition "Dark Clouds Over Paradise: The Hawai'i Internees Story," which has been on view at its Honolulu headquarters, opens at the Kaua'i Museum at 4 p.m. on Friday. The show will be up until Oct. 31.The Kaua'i Museum grand opening will feature a presentation by Dennis Ogawa, Ph.D., chair of the American Studies Department at the University of Hawai'i-Mānoa, and author of the best-selling books "Jan Ken Po: The World of Hawaii's Japanese Americans" and "Kodomo No Tame Ni: For The Sake of The Children."
The Kaua'i Museum: 4428 Rice St., Līhu'e; (808) 245-6931. Admission: $7 for adults; $5 for seniors; $3 for students (age 13 -17); $1 for children (6-12) and free for children under age 5. First Saturdays of every month admission is free.
Hours: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays to Fridays; 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdays.
