Hawai'i State Hospital is receiving $1,634,000 for improvements that include re-roofing portions of the hospital, improving the air conditioning system, retrofitting the hot-water system, repaving hospital access roads, replacing selected stairways, doors and windows and other general improvements throughout the facility.

Gov. Linda Lingle released the funds yesterday.

"As a key mental healthcare facility for our state, improvements to the Hawai'i State Hospital will benefit patients, visitors and employees," LIngle stated in a news release. "Continuing to provide comprehensive and effective mental healthcare to all Hawai'i residents is important to our administration."
