Hideichi and Fumiko Watanabe returned to Japan last week, but police are continuing the search for the body of their 21-year-old daughter, Masumi Watanabe, who was last seen April 12.

Kirk Lankford, 22, has been charged with murdering the Japanese woman.

Today, the 27th day since Watanabe disappeared, police continued their search for her body.

With the help of state Department of Land & Natural Resources enforcement and Department of Transportation personnel, police searched for more than five hours today in Kane'ohe.

Watanabe was last seen in Pupukea, but police have extended their search area to Kahana Bay, where a witness allegedly saw Lankford digging a hole late April 12, and along a path to his Kalihi home.

Police said the search effort will continue.
