Fire causes $5K in damage to garage at Hau'ula home

Advertiser Staff

A fire this morning caused an estimated $5,000 worth of damage to a garage at a Hau'ula home.

Fire Capt. Terry Seelig said the fire was essentially out by the time the first fire crew arrived at the home at 54-252 Kamehameha Highway.

Seeling said residents of the home heard some popping sounds coming from the garage and discovered the fire when they went to check.

"They fought it with a garden house and called for help," Seelig said.

When the first firefighters arrived at the house, they confirmed the fire had already been extinguished, Seelig said.

The cause of the fire had not been determined yet.
