Police Beat: Report of stolen bag leads to ID theft case

A man whose age was not listed was arrested about 3 p.m. in Waikiki yesterday after security workers at the Sheraton Waikiki Hotel reported seeing him steal a bag that had been left unattended on the beach in front of the hotel.

Police arrived and arrested the man. They said he had two credit cards and a California driver's license belonging to someone else.

He was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized possession of confidential personal information, theft of credit cards and fourth-degree theft.

Traffic stop leads to theft arrest

A 40-year-old man was arrested in Wai'anae last night after police discovered the motorcycle he was riding had been reported stolen.

Police said a patrol officer pulled the man over about 11:55 p.m. and was preparing to write out a speeding ticket when he learned a 20-year-old man had reported the theft of the motorcycle.

The man found riding it was then arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a vehicle.

Police apprehend car-theft suspect

A 25-year-old man with no local address was arrested in Nanakuli last night.

Police said he had been seen driving a car that had been reported stolen.

Police were called to a home on Nanakuli Avenue about 11:30 p.m. in response to a trespassing complaint and were told by witnesses that the alleged trespasser had arrived at the property driving the car in question.

After officers determined that the car had been stolen, the man was arrested on suspicion of unauthorized control of a vehicle.

Estranged wife complains of threats

A 28-year-old Kalihi man was arrested yesterday after his estranged wife told police he had threatened to kill her and her family.

Police reported that the woman said she was standing alone outside her apartment about 3 p.m. on April 29 when the man threatened to return May 5 and commit the violence.

The man was charged with second-degree terroristic threatening. His bail was set at $300.
