Big Island police seek help with $50K hammer theft

Big Island police are asking for the public's help in identifying individuals tied to the apparent theft of a hydraulic hammer from a construction site in Waimea in March.

The hydraulic hammer was last seen on March 12 at a construction site near the 13-mile marker on Route 190. On that day, a black extra-cab pickup truck was observed near the piece of machinery. The hydraulic hammer, valued at $50,000, was gone the next day.

Police ask anyone with information about the case to call Officer Angitau Faanunu at (808) 887-3080 or the Police Department's nonemergency number at (808) 936-3311.
