Cards for injured Maui soldier may be sent to mother

Advertiser Staff

The mother of a 19-year-old Maui soldier injured Saturday in a rocket-propelled grenade attack in Sadr City, Iraq, said this morning that cards for her son may be sent to her Kahului mailing address.

Pfc. Thomas Ponce, a 2006 Maui High School graduate, suffered shrapnel wounds to his face and hands, and is awaiting surgery on his right eye, his mother Jean Ponce said in a story that appeared on the front page of today's Advertiser.

Ponce said she will forward cards sent to her address — 100 Kuualoha St., Kahului, HI 96732 — to her son, who is now in a U.S. military hospital in Lundstuhl, Germany.

See the story about Ponce in today's paper.
