Jimmy Hall, the owner of Hawai'i Shark Encounters on the North Shore of O'ahu, was killed today while on an expedition to the Arctic, according to his agent Micah Johnson.

Johnson said Hall, 41, was on a trip to do an ecological documentary about the Arctic and died in a BASE jumping accident, evidently parachuting off a mountain.

Hall was famous for filming an encounter with a great white shark off the North Shore in 2005.

No other details are available at this time.
