UH professor recognized for developing heat-sensing radar

Advertiser Staff

Heart-sensing radar developed by University of Hawai'i Associated Professor Victor Lubecke was selected as for one of three emerging technology awards by TechConnect, a Silicon Valley-based organization that helping identify promising technologies and accelerate their commercial development.

The radar developed by Lubecke is capable of remotely detecting people through barriers and monitoring their heartbeat. The technology uses principles of Doppler radar and wireless technology and could have multiple applications, including those in healthcare. Prior to joining the university's Department of Electrical Engineering as an Associate Professor Lubecke was with Bell Laboratories.
