Nanakuli brushfire is declared contained

A brush fire in the area of of Ma'ili'ili Road and Pa'akea Road in Nanakuli was contained at 2:51 p.m. today, said fire department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.The fire burned 30 to 50 acres of mountain brush and prompted the evacuation of homes in the area before it was contained, Seelig said.
Honolulu police have closed Ma'ili'ili Road while crews battled the blaze. At least three fire companies were on the scene.
