Advertiser Staff

Brittany Puzey hit a two-run, walk-off homer in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift Nevada to a 3-1 victory and eliminate the University of Hawai'i from the Western Athletic Conference Softball Tournament at Fresno, Calif.

Earlier, No. 12 UH lost to Fresno State, 9-3.

In the second game, UH was no-hit until the fifth inning, when it tied the game at 1.

The Rainbow Wahine stranded the bases loaded in that inning and did so again in the eighth.

In the bottom of the eighth, Kristin Stith walked and Puzey homered off Justine Smethurst.

In today's first game, Fresno State battered Kate Robinson, who lost her first game of the season after 15 victories.

Robinson pitched just 2.2 innings and allowed five runs on five hits with three walks and no strike outs.

Fresno State scored three runs in the bottom of the first and never trailed.
