BYUH women advance to tennis championship

The top-ranked and defending national champion Brigham Young-Hawai'i women's tennis team advanced to the finals of NCAA II National Championships by defeating Armstrong Atlantic State 5-1 in the semifinals today at Altamonte Springs, Fla.

The Seasiders (32-0) won two of the three doubles matches to take a 2-1 lead, then closed out the Pirates with victories at No. 3, No. 4 and No. 6 singles.

BYUH will play West Florida in the finals tomorrow.

The Hawai'i Pacific women were eliminated after a 5-3 quarterfinal loss to Lynn today.

HPU (18-7) led 2-1 after winning two of the three doubles matches yesterday before the match was postponed due to rain. When play resumed today, the Sea Warriors managed just a win at No. 6 singles by Lauren Shin.
