Student leaders to be honored at UH commencement

Nine student leaders will be honored with the Undergraduate Leadership Distinction Award at the University of Hawai'i at Manoa Spring 2007 Commencement Exercises on Sunday.
The Undergraduate Leadership Distinction Award is given to students who demonstrate exemplary service to their fellow students and the campus community.
The list of recipients and their achievements, released by UH:
Zachary James Bass of Merrimack, N.H., who served with the Japanese Culture Club for five years, holding four positions during his tenure, including general officer, vice president, financial officer and president;
Brittany Lynn Grice of Redondo Beach, Calif., who served with six organizations during her tenure, including the Associated Students of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, the Student-Athlete Advisory Council, Pi Sigma Alpha Political Science Honor Society — Tau Pi Chapter, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars, Victory Campus Ministries and the Residence Hall Association at Hale Aloha 'Ilima;
Lisa Jeannette Hayashi of Honolulu, Hawai'i, who served with the Golden Key International Honor Society holding three positions during her tenure, including co-director of community service and social activities, director of publicity and president;
Jesse Ikaika Jones of Honaunau, Hawai'i, who served with the Associated Students of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa first as a senator at large and more recently as vice president. He also served with 'Ilio'ulaokalani Coalition-UHM & Hui Aloha 'Âina Tuahine--Hawaiian Language Club at UHM;
Timothy Lum-Yee of Anchorage, Alaska, who served with five organizations during his tenure, including the Associated Students of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, the Student Court, the American Society of Civil Engineers, the New Student Orientation-Honors Program and the Honors Futures Committee;
Pamela Loureen R. Supnet of Aiea, Hawai'i, who served with six organizations, including the Student Activity & Program Fee Board, Katipunan, Club COP (College Opportunities Program), Sariling Gawa Youth Council, National Society of Collegiate Scholars and Filipinos Linked in Pride;
Darrick G. Tanigawa of Pearl City, Hawai'i, who served with the Campus Center Board, holding the position of vice president. In this position, he oversaw the Activities Council. Darrick was also awarded the Most Valuable Team Player Award by the Campus Center Board in 2006;
Michael James Theune of Simi Valley, Calif., who served with the Associated Students of the University of Hawai'i at Manoa, most recently as chairperson of Internal Affairs, the Eco-Club and Kappa Sigma Fraternity, where he held three positions including grand scribe, grand procurator and athletic chair; and
Eli Tsukayama of Pearl City, founder of the Peer Mentor Ohana and volunteer tutor for Manoa's Learning Assistance Center. He was also president of the Regents and Presidential Scholars organization and a finalist for the Harry S. Truman Scholarship.
