Damien athletic director to coach with dad in Montana

Advertiser Staff

Damien Memorial School athletic director Pohai Lee has accepted an offer to coach receivers and quarterbacks at the University of Montana-Western, a member of the Frontier Conference.

Lee, 42, who took over the athletic department last summer, will be working for his father, Tommy Lee, who is head coach of Montana-Western.

Prior to coming to Damien Lee was offensive coordinator for the Baldwin High School varsity football team, helping the Bears to three Maui Interscholastic League titles.

"Pohai Lee took over the Damien athletic program at a critical point in our school's history," said school principal Michael Weaver. "He not only stabilized it but advanced it to another level. Damien's reputation and standing in the athletic community, and in the community at large, has been enhanced because of his work. His absence will definitely be noticed."

During his short time as athletic director, Lee made several coaching hires including a new head football coach, Brian Derby.
