Kaua'i prosecutors charged a 27-year-old man with manslaughter in connection with the death of a woman he allegedly kicked in the chest Wednesday during a domestic confrontation.

Shane N. Duncan, of Wailua Homesteads, is charged with family abuse, third-degree assault and second-degree unlawful imprisonment in addition to manslaughter.

Duncan was being held at the Kaua'i Community Correctional Center is lieu of $101,200 bail.

He is accused of kicking Marie Annette Mundon, 65, in the chest. Mundon died Thursday at Wilcox Hospital, and an autopsy listed cause as blunt force trauma to the chest.

According to police, Mundon was holding one of her grandchildren in the driveway of her Wailua home at about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday when Duncan, who is the father of the child, drove up, got out of his vehicle, shoved Mundon and grabbed the child.

Mundon's husband, 68, confronted Duncan and was allegedly assaulted. Mrs. Mundon was kicked in the chest while pulling her husband away from Duncan.

Mrs. Mundon was admitted to Wilcox Hospital after complaining of chest pains.
