Saddle up for Western Week in Honoka'a town on the Big Island's Hamakua coast. Fun begins Saturday with the Paniolo Parade led by grand marshal Evelyn Andrade. An Olde Time Paniolo Market Day features Western-themed foods and crafts, and you'll can catch paniolo talking story at Honoka'a People's Theater with rope-weaving and saddle-making demos. Well-known foot stompers The Rockbottom Band perform at 7 p.m. at Hotel Honoka'a Club (tickets are $12 ($10 with a button at the door). A Giant Block Party May 25 features the annual Saloon Girl Contest for contestants who dress as saloon girls and serve cowboys drinks, plus a country-western music performance by Silver Spurs. Hawaii Saddle Club's 51st Annual Rodeo rounds up the week May 27 and on Memorial Day when paniolo from around the Islands compete in thrilling rodeo events from noon until dark. $7 at the gate. LEARN WINE AT THE VINEYARD LEVEL

At Sonoma County Grape Camp, campers harvest grapes and blend their own wine, and learn how to pair the food and wines of the region at "The Marriage of Food & Wine" seminar by chef/author John Ash.
