Drivers, watch for new School Street traffic signal

By Catherine E. Toth
Advertiser Urban Honolulu Writer

The new pedestrian traffic signals on North School Street in Lanakila fronting St. Theresa's School will be constantly flashing today to alert motorists of the presence of the lights.

The signals will begin normal operations at 9 a.m. tomorrow.

Because the signal is located at a mid-block crosswalk, pedestrians who wish to cross must press the button to trigger the walk signal.

"This is part of our effort to improve pedestrian safety islandwide," said Mayor Mufi Hannemann, in a news release. "We can't do it alone, of course and we urge motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution on the road at all times."
