Paddlers Bartlett, Paiaina win Kauai World Challenge

Maui's Kai Bartlett and Honolulu's Kea Paiaina won the one-person canoe (OC-1) division of the Kauai World Challenge Saturday.

They completed the 34-mile course from Wailua Beach to Salt Pond in 3 hours, 41 minutes, 46 seconds. The course was separated into four legs, and each paddler had to complete two legs.

Maui Kjeldsen of Kauai and Manny Kulukulualani of Honolulu placed second in 3:42:37. California paddlers Danny Ching and Tyson Poppler were third in 3:53:10.

Australian paddlers Lisa Curry-Kenny and Amanda Ozolins were the first female team to finish with a time of 4:25:42.

Oahu paddlers Dolan Eversole and Matt Dubrule were the first to finish on a surfski with a time of 3:42:03.
