Main break closes 3 lanes on Kapi'olani Boulevard

Advertiser Staff

A 12-inch water main break today forced the closure of three eastbound lanes of Kapi'olani Boulevard shortly before 4 p.m.

The closure is between Ward Avenue and Kamake'e Street.

A Board of Water Supply troubleshooter is on scene and repair work is expected to last through tomorrow morning.

The main break on the makai side of Blaisdell Center is affecting about five businesses in the area.

The main was installed in 1935. It was scheduled to be replaced sometime next year as part of the joint City-BWS Water-Sewer project.
