Small Business Administration sets Big Island workshop

The U.S. Small Business Administration will hold two free events to offer advice on how to start a new business June 7 and 8 on the Big Island.

The "Micro Enterprise 101" workshop will run from 9 a.m.-noon June 7 at the Hawai'i Community College's Building 379-1 to discuss what it takes to become an entrepreneur. The workshop also will address how to obtain the necessary licenses, what legal structure is suitable, how and why to create a business plan, marketing and public relations, and financing.

On June 8, representatives from the SBA and the Hawai'i Small Business Development Center Network will meet individually with prospective owners to help determine a course of action. The consultations will be held from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Small Business Development Center Network office at 100 Pauahi St., Suite 109, in Hilo.
