Diamond Head Crater Festival schedule released

By Wayne Harada
Advertiser Entertainment Writer

A Crater Cabaret stage, featuring vibes from Island musicians, will augment the Diamond Head Crater Festival's main stage music this Saturday.

According to producer Ron Gibson, the Crater Cabaret will begin at noon, as first arrivals start filling the crater. The cabaret line-up: blues by Boogie, the mellow folk-rock of Johnny Helm, the reggae of Natural Vibrations and the rockin' fun of Downtown Charley and the Humbones.

"Music will be everywhere in the crater this Saturday," Gibson said in a statement. Performers will be on the cabaret stage throughout the event and particularly before the main lineup begins and during set changes. Folks may get up to dance and the music will continue until the last patrons exit at night.

The main stage events begin at 2 p.m., with a blessing and performance by cast members from the Polynesian Cultural Center.

Here's the line-up:

  • 2:30 p.m. — Yvonne Elliman.

  • 3:30 p.m. — Mick Fleetwood's Island Rumours Band.

  • 5 p.m. — Earth, Wind & Fire.

  • 6:50 p.m. — The Gregg Rolie Band.

In addition, there will be a live auction of music memorabilia and signed items prior to the Earth, Wind & Fire performance.

An arts and crafts fair and an extensive food court also are part of the day's attractions.

Tickets are $69 general admission; reserved seats are $99, $135, $150 and $175; they're on sale at Ticketmaster locations, including Times Supermarket locations and the Blaisdell box office, online at www.ticketmaster.com and by phone at (877) 750-4400.

Walk-ins are not permitted Saturday at the site, but same-day sales will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday (also on Friday) at the Waikiki Shell box office.
