3 arrests in purse-snatching incident

Two men and a woman were arrested in Wai'anae yesterday in connection to an assault and pursue-snatching incident.

At 9:55 p.m. Saturday officers responding to a fight in a Wai'anae park met a 26-year-old woman who reported that she was assaulted.

The woman told police that while the fight was under way two men and a woman walked up to her as she sat in her car, off to the side of the fight, and demanded her purse.

When she refused and attempted to drive off, one of them men reached into the car and punched her while someone else grabbed her purse, police said.

The group then reportedly jumped into another car and drove off.

On Sunday, police spotted three individuals in a park whose descriptions matched those provided by the woman. When officers approached the group, one of the men became agitated and confronted an officer trying to arrest him. In an effort to defuse the man's resistance, police then fired a rubber round from a shotgun at the man, police said.

The group was arrested on suspicion of breaking into the woman's car and second-degree assault.

Boyfriend arrested in tie to baseball bat attack

A 50-year-old man was arrested last night after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend with a baseball bat.

The man and his girlfriend, 42, reportedly got into an argument in his apartment in Waikiki last night. During the argument the man reportedly grabbed a wooden baseball bat and threatened the woman. He then reportedly broke the bat into two pieces over a table and stabbed the woman twice with the broken jagged piece, according to a police report.

The woman suffered minor injuries and was treated at the scene.

Responding patrol officers arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree terroristic threatening and second-degree assault.

Former boyfriend arrested in break-in incident

A 33-year-old man was arrested yesterday after he allegedly broke into a house he once shared with a his girlfriend and confronted her.

The man reportedly got into an argument during a telephone conversation with his 32-year-old former girlfriend. He then reportedly drove to the house they once shared, where the woman resides, despite repeated requests from the woman to stay away.

The man removed five jealousies from the back window of the woman's 'Aiea home and climbed in to continue the argument, police said.

The woman called police and the man confronted her in her bedroom.

Responding police found the two arguing in the bedroom, and arrested the man on suspicion of first-degree burglary.
