Celebrate by donating book

Advertiser Staff

Three months ago 'Aina Haina Elementary School launched a program to help expand its library.

So far the response "has been tremendous," said librarian Candace Foster.

The Celebration Book Program allows families to donate a book to the library to celebrate a special occasion, such as a birthday or anniversary.

Inside each book, which is selected from a list the library provides, is a bookplate with the child's photo.

When the program started, the goal was to collect 50 books before the end of the school year, "and we have gone way over that," Foster said.
