State girls basketball: Honoka'a beats Moanalua, 33-25

Jessika Lorenzo scored 10 points and grabbed six rebounds and All-State guard Keisha Kanekoa added 11 rebounds and five assists to help Honoka'a defeat Moanalua, 33-25, tonight in the first round of the Hawaiian Airlines/Hawai'i High School Athletic Association Girls Basketball Championships.

The Big Island Interscholastic Federation runner-up Dragons improved to 13-3 in the regular and postseason and will play O'ahu Interscholastic Association champion and No. 1 seed Roosevelt (14-1) in tomorrow's 4 p.m. quarterfinal at Stan Sheriff Center.

Honoka'a led 15-7 at the half and extended it to 23-12 after three periods.

Na Menehune (6-11) closed to 29-21 after Jamie Ronolo's two free throws with 2:24 remaining, but could get no closer.

Ronolo led all scorers with 13 points.
