Epilepsy summit under way at Kahala Nui

The Epilepsy Foundation of Hawai'i will hold its first summit today at Kahala Nui.

The invitation-only event, called "Building Partnership and Collaboration," will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. The summit is aimed at providing more services to the more than 19,000 people in the state who have epilepsy, while educating others on the disease.

Agenda items include:

  • Introduction to the epilepsy foundation;

  • i Review of the epilepsy care in Hawai'i;

  • And training nurses for epilepsy care.

    A panel of speakers will host a forum after lunch.

    Representatives from various state agencies, the Honolulu police and fire departments, the governor's office and others are expected to attend the summit.
