A 20-year-old former Hawai'i Pacific University softball player pleaded guilty today to possessing with the intent to distribute dozens of tablets of the illicit drug ecstasy.

Kellie Nishikida pleaded guilty before U.S. District Judge Michael Seabright with her family and supporters in the courtroom. She faces a maximum 20 years in prison and $1 million fine when she is sentenced Sept. 10.

Nishikida admitted in court today that she conspired with three friends to sell ecstasy, a form of methamphetamine, on Jan. 13 and 14 this year. Nishikida was arrested by federal agents Jan. 14 in the parking lot of the Pearl City Wal-Mart store with 80 pills in her possession, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors said Nishikida was at the Wal-Mart parking lot to sell ecstasy to a friend, who had planned to deal the drug on the Schofield Barracks Army base in Wahiawa.
