Del Monte, Kilgo's equipment being auctioned off

Advertiser Staff

The remnants of Fresh Del Monte Produce (Hawaii) Inc.'s Kunia pineapple operations and the Kilgo's store on Sand Island Access Road are being sold off.

Del Monte, which abruptly shuttered operations in November and fired 551 workers, is auctioning off farm and office equipment used in running its 104-year-old pineapple business here. Up for bid are sprayer, pickup, and flatbed trucks, trailers, forklifts, harvesters, plows, irrigation items, machine shop equipment and office items.

The equipment is available for viewing starting on Friday at 10 a.m. at 92-1170 Kunia Road, according to an advertisement taken out by Del Monte. Bids will be accepted on site and can be mailed or faxed to the company. The auction will end on June 1, with property going to the highest bidder.

Kilgo's recently closed after more than 60 years in business. The remaining items in the hardware store are being liquidated in a sale that begins today by McClain Auctions. Items are being sold at 50 percent or more off of marked prices.

The Kilgo's sale will end on Saturday. An auction of the retailer's remaining inventory, furniture and fixtures is planned for May 26 at 10 a.m.
