Advertiser Staff

The governor will lead a 12-day trip to Asia in June, focusing on increasing security and emergency preparedness partnerships between Hawai'i and Indonesia, as well as promoting tourism and business opportunities with Japan.

The governor will visit Jakarta, Indonesia, and Tokyo and Okinawa, Japan.

Her trip is set to run from June 9 to 22. It will be the governor's first official state visit to Indonesia and her second official visit to Japan.

"This trip is another important opportunity to continue to strengthen Hawai'i's strategic role in the Asia-Pacific region," Lingle said, in a news release.

The governor will be accompanied by members of the administration, including Maj. Gen. Robert Lee, state adjutant general; Marsha Wienert, state tourism liaison; and Dr. Chiyome Fukino, state health director.
