KAHULUI
Beach park will get big cleanup

Advertiser Staff

A section of Kanaha Beach Park from Ka'a Point near the drainage area to the gravel parking lot will be closed from 6 a.m. today through Friday for a major cleanup of the area.

Officials said the action is being taken in response to concerns about illegal camping at Kanaha, the county's largest beach park.

The rest of the park will remain open while the cleanup is done one section at a time over several months.

The county estimates the project will be completed by the end of the year. The effort includes restoring native habitat in the sand dune areas of the park.
