Four sign with UH

The University of Hawai'i women's basketball team has added height and athleticism to its squad as four players committed during the late signing period, coach Jim Bolla announced yesterday.

Joining the Rainbow Wahine are Jamie Hawkins, a 6-foot-3 forward from Connors State College in Warner, Okla.; Ebony Jones, a 6-2 forward from Wallace State College in Selma, Ala.; Natasha Davis, a 6-3 center from Rancho High School in Las Vegas; and Allie Paterson, a 6-1 swing player who will transfer from St. John's University.

"Overall, this group instantly makes us more athletic and features the type of up-tempo players we've been striving for the last few years," Bolla said. "Their arrival will allow us to play more pressure defense, accelerate our transition game and hopefully move us closer to our goal of being a Top 25 program."

Hawkins averaged 13.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while earning first-team all-conference honors. Jones led her conference in blocks (2.04 per game) and her team in rebounding (9.2 per game). Davis plays club basketball at Rancho High. Paterson appeared in 24 games, starting two, as a freshman with the Red Storm. She earned first-team all-league, all-region and all-state honors while playing at Rancho Cucamonga and Los Osos high schools in California.
