UCLA junior driver Kamaile Crowell was part of a history-making team when the Bruins won the women's national water polo championship with a 5-4 win over Stanford Sunday.

It marked UCLA's 100th NCAA title, accomplishing what no other NCAA member institution has.

Crowell, a 2004 Punahou graduate, did not record any stats in the championship match but had 10 goals and 31 attempts this season.

BASEBALL

  • Creighton junior infielder Michael Lam (Punahou '04) was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District VII first team.

    Lam earned a 3.61 GPA in biology/pre-med.

  • Brown reserve outfield-er/designated hitter J.J. Eno (Baldwin '04) was named to the ESPN The Magazine/CoSIDA Academic All-District I first team.

Eno earned a 3.73 GPA in neuroscience.

  • Central Arizona JC freshman outfielder C.J. Johnson ('Iolani '06) batted 2 for 4 with three RBIs in an 8-1 win over Cochise Friday in the NJCAA Division I Region I tournament final.

Central Arizona advanced to the NJCAA (Div. 1) Western District Tournament. Women's Soccer

  • Duke junior goalkeeper Allison Lipsher (Punahou '04 of Hawai'i Kai) was appointed a team captain for the 2007 season.

"We are excited about the leadership these young ladies will bring to our program both on and off the field," coach Robbie Church said in a release. "I think each of them have a little niche that they specialize in and they will lead us into our 2007 season."

Lipsher, a three-year starter, is fourth in career saves (174), second in shutouts (26) and first in goals against average (0.88).

    SOFTBALL

  • Brigham Young junior outfielder Emi Snow (Kamehameha '04) was named to the 20-member Mountain West Conference all-conference team for the first time.

Snow was second in the MWC in slugging percentage (.703) and RBIs (49), and hit a career-best 16 home runs.

Sumner and Kaui Tom (Kamehameha '06) earned spots on the all-freshman squad.

Sumner is the only Pirate to play and start in every game. She leads the team in at-bats, runs scored, hits, triples and stolen bases.

Tom has a perfect stolen-base percentage (12 for 12) and leads the team in walks and sacrifice hits.

Sumner, Tom and fellow freshman Cristen Aona (Punahou '06) earned the Conference USA Commissioner's Academic Medal for student-athletes who achieved a 3.75 GPA or better.

Fujino walked and scored a run earlier that day in a 4-1 win over Redlands to escape elimination.

Linfield is the top seed in the NCAA Division III Finals. It plays Emory of Atlanta, Ga., Friday in the eight-team national tournament.
