John Adams presidential $1 coin bags and rolls — bags of 250 coins and rolls of 25 coins — are expected to be available next week in Hawai'i banks.

Until they arrive in the Islands, the bags and rolls — made available today on the Mainland — may be purchased online by using the U.S. Mint's secure Web site, www.usmint.gov, or by calling 1-800-USA-MINT (872-6468). Hearing- and speech-impaired customers may order by calling 1-888-321-MINT (6468). A shipping and handling fee of $4.95 per order will be added to all domestic orders.

The bags cost $319.95, and the rolls $35.95.

The United States is honoring the nation's past presidents with the circulation of presidential $1 coins featuring their images in the order that they served, beginning in 2007 with Presidents Washington, Adams, Jefferson and Madison.

The United States Mint will issue four presidential $1 coins a year. An image of the Statue of Liberty will be on the flip-side of each coin. The composition of the new coins will be identical to that of the golden dollar featuring Sacagawea.

Coins honoring Thomas Jefferson and James Madison will be available later in the year.
