May was named president and chief executive officer of HECO in 1995. He is also chairman to the advisory boards of directors of HECO subsidiaries, Maui Electric Co. and Hawaii Electric Light Company, Inc, which provide electricity to 95 percent of the state's 1.2 million residents.
