Advertiser Staff

The Kamehameha Schools Maui Orchestra will bring Hawaiian music, hula and the classics to New York's Carnegie Hall at 8 p.m. June 2.

"This is such an exciting opportunity for the students and we are just thrilled," said Iolani Yamashiro, Kamehameha Schools Maui orchestra instructor. "They have been working very hard for several months on this once-in-a-lifetime concert."

More than 40 students in grades 8 to 12 will participate. The students will be joined by orchestras from Seattle and Texas.

To prepare for the one-nighter, the orchestra will give a free preview performance at 4 p.m. Sunday at Baldwin High School auditorium.
