40 Hawai'i schools awarded $1.3M for repair projects

Hawaii 3Rs awarded more than $1.3 million in grants to 40 schools statewide last week for repair and maintenance projects.

Since its inception in 2001, 3rs has awarded 317 grants totaling $9.3 million to Hawai'i public schools. Hawaii 3Rs stands for Repair, Remodel and Restore Hawai'i's public schools.

Four of the 40 schools receiving grants this year are located in Honolulu, six are in Central O'ahu, six from Leeward O'ahu, nine from Windward O'ahu, six from the Big Island, two from Maui, five from Moloka'i and two are from Kaua'i.

Moneys will be used for repainting a library, kitchen, a girls' dorm, replacing playground equipment, walkways, improving drainage and several other projects.
