Hilea leads Jennie K. by one over Merkle

Jaclyn Hilea, a Moanalua High graduate, shot a 1-under-par 71 today and has the lead after the first round of the Jennie K. Wilson Invitational at Mid-Pacific Country Club.Hilea, who won the State Stroke Play crown last year at Mid-Pacific, leads Kristina Merkle, a Moanalua High junior and last year's Jennie K. winner, by one shot.
Nancy Shon and Traci Kashiwabara-Ayabe are tied for third at 77.
The second round of the tournament begins Saturday at 7 a.m. and concludes Sunday, also with a 7 a.m. start.
