PUNALU'U
Help remove lagoon weeds

Advertiser Staff

The organization 'O Ka'u Kakou (We Are Ka'u) invites volunteers to join in cleaning up Punalu'u Lagoon from 9 a.m to 3 p.m. tomorrow.

The project will target the invasive water hyacinths that threaten to suffocate the wildlife living beneath the surface.

Volunteers who plan to enter the water and handle the water hyacinths should wear tabi (fishing footwear) or old tennis shoes and a long-sleeved shirt.

Hats, sunglasses and sunscreen are also recommended, and refreshments and sandwiches will be served to all volunteers.

Contact Raylene Moses at 936-8865 for more information.
