Learn about Lou Gehrig's disease at meeting today

The Muscular Dystrophy Association is holding an informational meeting this morning on amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, also known as ALS or Lou Gehrig's disease

Anyone who is affected by or interested in the disease, caregivers, family members and friends, and the general public are welcome to attend the event from 9 a.m. to noon at The Queen's Conference Center, 510 S. Beretania St. at the corner of Punchbowl and Beretania streets.

"Pampered ALS" is a free, educational event about amyotrophic lateral sclerosis featuring speakers, food, entertainment, informational booths and displays. Speakers include Ronald Yamaoka, neurologist and MDA clinic co-director; Bruce Clark, Accessibility Planning Consulting; and Linda Giles, motivational speaker.

Spa-themed door prizes will be given away every hour. Food and beverages provided by Gyotaku Japanese Restaurant.
