Laughlin, Quale, Bartletts win Moloka'i-to-O'ahu races

Tahiti's Lewis Laughlin won the surfski division of the Epic Kayaks Moloka'i World Championships today, completing the 37-mile course from Moloka'i to O'ahu in 5 hours, 20 minutes, 6 seconds.

The event is considered the world championship of long-distance ocean paddling for solo surfskis and one-person canoes (OC-1).

Megan Quale of Lahaina, Maui, was the first female to finish on a surfski in 6:39:39.

Maui's Kai and Lauren Bartlett won the one-person canoe races. Kai Bartlett finished the men's race in 6 hours, 7 minutes, 56 seconds. Lauren Bartlett won the women's division in 6:54:59.

They are the first husband and wife to win titles in the same year.
