SPECIAL

Summertheatre 2007 is accepting students, 13-18, for an intensive summer drama program, which includes instruction in playwriting, improvisation and acting. Students will participate in workshops with guest artists and perform a showcase of their work in July. The program runs from June 13-July 13 at the Hawai'i Theatre and at the Mission Memorial auditorium on the Civic Center grounds. Tuition is $500, with scholarships available for qualifying students. Hawaii Youth Symphony, auditions for the concert orchestra and two youth symphonies, open to students who were 10 years old as of Jan. 1, 2007 through grade 12, will be held June 2, 3, 9 and 10 at UH-Manoa Music Department. Program fee for the season (August through May) is $325, with monetary assistance for Neighbor Island students for transportation to rehearsals and performances and for O'ahu students with financial need. Application fee is $35, due at the HYS office by Thursday

The Step*Taculars seek men and women, 60 and older, to perform in tap-dancing shows, noon Thursdays through May 31. Call for location: 456-2202.
