City publishes guide to better hearing

By Rod Ohira
Advertiser Staff Writer

The Elderly Affairs Division of the city's Department of Community Services has published an informative 45-page booklet on hearing loss and available resources titled, "Guide to Better Hearing."

At least 50 percent of all older adults have some degree of hearing loss but most are hard of hearing, not deaf, the booklet says.

The booklet lists alternative techniques, devices and resources to purchasing expensive hearing aids.

This booklet can be found at www.elderlyaffairs.com www.elderlyaffairs.com or by contacting the Elderly Affairs Division at 523-4545.
