Car destroyed by car fire near lookout on Tantalus

A car was destroyed early this morning after being engulfed by flames on Round Top Drive around 1 a.m.Because of the ongoing repairs to the road following the 2005 landslide, firefighters had to travel more than 8 miles to get up the winding mountain road to get to the scene.
By the time they arrived, the flames were out. The fire was viewed by several residents down below the mountain.
No injuries were reported and the car, which had no tires, was taken down the mountain just after 4 a.m.
