Holunape headlines Pineapple Festival Saturday

Holunape, the Na Hoku Hanohano Award-winning group, will perform at the Wahiawa Pineapple Festival Saturday at the Wahiawa District Park.

The group will be on the main stage from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Storytellers Jeff Gere, Brenda Freitas-Obregon and Lopaka Kapanui will also be on the program, between 10:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. in the Hale Ho'okipa Building.

The Pineapple Festival also taps chefs Alan Wong, Roy Yamaguchi, Fred DeAngelo and Elmer Guzman, who will whip up pineapple-themed specialties.

Among other activities: a parade at 9 a.m., narrated trolley tours of Wahiawa, historic agricultural displays, keiki activities and a reunion of former pineapple field and cannery workers.
