Police locate runaway in Waipahu

Police today located a 13-year-old boy who was a reported runaway after searching for nearly 90 minutes in the area around Waipahu District Park.The search was conducted in response to a complaint from a resident who reported seeing the youth carrying a gun Saturday at Waipahu District Park. The resident saw the same boy today and called police.
The boy ran into a drainage ditch as officers approached, according to acting Pearl City police Capt. Ben Ballesteros.
Police located the boy at about 9 a.m. but found no weapon.
